Mixing it up

This summer is moving right along with the plan of getting back to more business related photography. I have been working on a lot of promotional images from a catering company to university materials just to name a couple. I love bouncing from one style and subject to another all the while popping over to the pool with my kids, or driving down to camp at the dunes between shoots.

I have been doing a lot of work for Northwestern University and above are a few from graduations last month.

A few from a food shoot that I did for the talented Chef Daniel Vogel last month, check out his catering company Food Obsessions.

whats a summer in Oak Park without a block party...

and some other events, Bat Mitzvah, wedding, music recital, David McCullagh at The Newberry Library, business conference and so on...

and my 9 years olds birthday party, all things spy related

summer has begun

School is out for summer which means both my kids are with me most of the time, unless I am at a shoot. This rainy morning they made some root beer.

This week we spent a good amount of time hanging out in the yard with the chickens and picking strawberries in between swimming, play dates and a trip to Lincoln Park

Siofra, my youngest will start kindergarten in August so we plan to spend a lot of time together this summer before she will be gone from me for so many hours a day.

My plan was to work only a little while my kids were so young and I am glad I have been able to be with them so much in their early years, but I'm also a little excited to get back to some things I've put aside for 9 years. Yes it will be 9 years next month since my older one was born. He was the inspiration for the maternity portraits and then child and family photography parts of my work. Slowly I am getting back to more commercial work. The last month or so has been filled with a mix of work from fashion stills to lectures in beautiful spaces, business conferences to business portraits of different styles, I'm looking forward to the next phase.

catching up and finishing out The Oak Parkers

clearly I would never make it as a professional blogger, this poor little section of my site gets forgotten about far too often, and with the summer just around the corner I fear it will be lonely.

I feel I have almost finished the photography part of my Oak Parkers project. 40 people photographed, 28 who I did not know in person at all until I asked them to be in the project and a few more I knew lightly. It has been a great experience to get out and meet new members of my community. Such a mix of people who are passionate about what they do, from artists to activists.
